Hi,
I have a question regarding QR Codes on European Nokia handsets , if anyone here can help.
I have tested the Kaywa QR code reader on the Motorola v3x and it works perfectly - the v3x has a macro-mode on its camera. I would prefer to use Nokia, however, you need the camera to be able to focus on close-up objects for the software to work.
I've checked http://europe.nokia.com and I can't find any Nokia handset that has either macro-mode or auto-focus cameras.
The Kaywa reader page shows a list of compatible Nokia terminals here:
http://reader.kaywa.com/phones
This list includes the following Nokias:
- 3230
- 5300
- 6233
- 6260
- 6280
- 6600
- 6620
- 6630
- 6670
- 6680
- 6681
- 6682
- 7610
- N70
- N90
I don't think these phones will work though. I suspect that Nokia's Japanese handsets do include macro-/auto-focus modes (as almost every phone in Japan has this facility) but that Nokia has hobbled the camera on the European versions. A quick google on 3230 autofocus shows plenty of pages in English which state that the 3230 does not have autofocus or macrolens capabilities.
So, I can go with Motorola, or try to find a suitable Nokia.
Does anyone know if there are any Nokia handsets available in Europe which have auto-focus or macro-mode? (I'd prefer not to have to go N-Series!)
And indeed, has anyone out there got QR codes working on Nokias?
Thanks!
