S60 3rd edition - getting started issue

Hi
I try to run a S60 3rd edition application (I import it from a 2nd edition using the relevant docs).
I use the Code Warrior , I can see the app name under the "installed" directory, but without an icon.
When trying to open the app , I get an App.closed error message:"USER 23".
Trying to debug it , the emulator gets stuck on startup :-(
Can you give me some ideas about what could cause this?(I guess that this is related to changes between 2nd and 3rd edition).

* by the way , are the command prompt commands for 3rd edition different?(cause I can't build the app using command prompt...)

Hi,

When trying to open the app , I get an App.closed error message:"USER 23".

Cause for USER 23 :

This panic is raised when any operation that moves or copies data to an 8 bit variant descriptor, causes the length of that descriptor to exceed its maximum length.

It may be caused by any of the copying, appending or formatting member functions and, specifically, by the Insert(), Replace(), Fill(), Fillz() and ZeroTerminate() descriptor member functions. It can also be caused by the SetLength() function. See TDes8.

It will take some time to start emulator in 3rd edition.
By the way which IDE r u using?

Thanks for your reply.
I use Code Warrior IDE.
The app I try to run is imported from 2nd edition(where it works) so I didnt expect these kind of errors(descriptors etc).
Anyway , the Emulator does get stuck in DEBUG mode(believe me :-), I let it open for more than half an hour and it doesn't open).
The last line in the debug messages is:"PlatSecProcessIsolation = ON".
Any idea how to make it work?
If I had the debugger working , it would be so much easier to find where do I get this "USER 23" err message ...

Thank you very much
after changing the TMP vars and adding the EPOCROOT I managed to debug the app.
it falls on this line in AppUi.cpp:
BaseConstructL(EAknEnableSkin);

using the get inside function of the emulator I found that the fall occures when calling avkon.dll.

But I still have no idea what causes the fall ... :-(

It's so frustrating :-(
I still have no success in solving the problem.
I got inside the avkon.dll in the debugger and I think that the fall is in viewclid.ll which I think is called by eiksrvs.exe.

If I had any idea of what can cause such a fall in BaseConstructL , I could try and change the code -
Which descriptors can make this kind of fall in this method?
What could work on 2nd edition but have this fall in 3rd edition?

Hopefully someone here have some more ideas?
(ofcourse I also search docs and forums , but for now I couldnt find anything which made a change...)
