WPA / EAP ; certificate problem; N80

Hi, at my University, we'he got a WLAN network (eduroam), it's going on WPA, EAP.

The problem is, I need to choose one of few EAP plug-in settings, I think EAP-PEAP-> but you have to get a certificate (this is what admin said), I've got the files he told me from my University, PC says they are ok, and they really work on my laptop. I've downloaded all 4 different certificates which were on the web page.

On the page there were:
*.p7b - IE
*.cer - others browsers

*.crt - certificates in binary format
*.pem - in text format

and I have question, how and where to install them. When I transfer them via bluetooth -> unknown file format(for all) the same when I put them into Data->Install directory.
There is an option "user certificate" in EAP-PEAP but only option I can choose is "none"

There have been a few posts about this before, like this one:

You probably want the .cer file (assuming it is in binary DER format - see link above) and you need to use Bluetooth OBEX object push rather than OBEX file transfer. The phone should then recognise the object if it is in the correct format and add it to the certificate store.

You can check it is installed in Tools->Settings->Security->Certif. management-> scroll right for Personal certificates.

I think the user certificate option you are using in EAP-PEAP is correct.

It's a while since I've done that and I'm going from memory so please excuse errors.

First of all you need the EAP type for sure. When the admin does not know it, forget the whole thing. No guessing please. The Admin has to know and tell that.

I was told EAP-PEAP; I get certificates via bluetooth and installed them, choose them. I've got user name and password(don't know yet where to type password, I think later), but there is think such "realm" and ... what is it?

Hi,

Realm is like Domain, the admins should tell you but it will be of the form <your-uni>.ac.uk in the UK for instance.
