Hi,

1) What is the maximum text length that can be inserted in a
picture message? Must it be the remaining length of the actual
size of the picture?

2) Is there a way to specify that the text is above or below
the picture?

The limiting factor is the number of concatenated messages that should not exeed 3 messages.

2)
No, text is displayed below the image.
