Description

Video content cannot be seen on some E-series devices (E72,E62, E52,C5-00 etc.) when using the CVideoPlayerUtility class to play video clips. The same class can play the video files successfully on most N-series devices such as N78, N73, 5800 XpressMusic, 5230, and so on. They can be played in non-fullscreen mode and fullscreen mode also.

However, when the same video clip and same application is used on E72 and E62, only sound works and there is no video. Instead a blank screen is visible. The clip can be played in RealPlayer on the same device normally (with both audio and video).

How to reproduce

Use the application from the following link: How to play a video file using CVideoPlayerUtility

Solution

You need to add the WriteDeviceData capability to the application in order to see the video.
