Description

On S60 3rd Edition, FP2 devices (such as the Nokia N96), the microphone can be muted using call audio control APIs and the sound is not heard at the other end (downlink). However, if sound is recorded, the audio is not sent to uplink but the uplink audio is mixed with downlink audio in the recorded file. In other words, both uplink and downlink audio is recorded in the file and can be heard even though uplink is muted.

Similar behavior is reported in the latest firmware versions for S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices.

When selecting mute from phone UI, similar behaviour can be observed. Audio is not sent to uplink but it is mixed with downlink audio when recorded.

How to reproduce

This issue can be reproduced by muting the microphone through the Call Audio Control API or with the Voice Recorder application.

Solution

No known solution.
