Archived: BASIC is a widely used programming language, well known of its ease of learning and use. NS Basic/Symbian is a modern implementation of BASIC, similar to Visual Basic.
Overview
NS Basic/Symbian OS 1.0 was released in September, 2008 for S60 3rd Edition and UIQ3 devices. It features an IDE with a design screen to layout forms and objects and a code window with codesense like features. The compiler outputs S60 and UIQ installer files which create standalone applications with their own icons.
Version 1.1 was released in February, 2009. It added support for 5th Edition devices such as the Nokia 5800, as well as over 30 other enhancements and fixes.
There are two versions: NS Basic/Symbian OS Standard Edition produces a self signed installer, intended for personal use and limited distribution apps. NS Basic/Symbian OS Pro Edition also produces an unsigned installer, which can then be signed according to the guidelines in Symbian Signed. NS Basic/Symbian OS is a commercial product. It is sold on a per developer license. Applications created using NS Basic/Symbian OS are distributed royalty free.
