Description

The Options menu can contain submenus defined using the 'cascade' parameter in the menu resource MENU_ITEM.

If a submenu includes another submenu, the menus will not work properly: When selecting a menu item from the 3rd (innermost) menu level, the active menu pane is not closed with the rest of the menu but stays on the screen permanently.

This issue has been reproduced in S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 N-series devices with the latest firmware.

The S60 UI Style Guide, Section 6.6.1 states the following:

"Only one submenu level is allowed, that is, a submenu cannot contain another submenu."

Solution

No known solution. Design the Options menu of your application to have only one level of submenus.
