Overview

This technical solution shows the additional steps that you need to perform (if you're using Carbide.c++ Express) to build applications for the Symbian emulator using the command line. Note that by default, the build process can be done only from within the Carbide IDE itself.

Description

Follow these steps to make the required changes to the system environment:

  1. Locate and run env_update.exe, found in Carbide.c++_Express_Installation_folder\Carbide.c++ Express v1.1\plugins\com.nokia.carbide.cpp.support_1.1.0.5\env_switch directory.
  2. When prompted, select the latest compiler version.
  3. Close and restart the command prompt (if it was open).
  4. Building for the emulator should now work also from the command line.

To verify this, try the following commands:

cd SDK_install_directory\S60Ex\Helloworldbasic\group
bldmake bldfiles
abld build winscw udeb
epoc
