Overview

MIDlets signed with Java Verified certificate will not launch after installation if the country code value is incorrect or missing.

Description

MIDlets signed with Java Verified certificate will not launch after installation on an S60 3rd Edition device. No error messages or exceptions are displayed. The problem appears to be due to the invalid length of the country code which is included in the certificate: for example, the standard two-digit country code value for Finland is FI. If the length of the country code value is exceeded (for example, the value is set to N/A instead of the actual country code), the application will not launch.

Solution

The MIDlet needs to be signed by the certificate generator with a Java Verified certificate including the two-digit country code.

See the ISO 3166 standard for valid country codes.
