Description
Technical solution Archived:Launching the Web browser on S60 3rd Edition to open a specified URL describes what parameters can be passed to the S60 Web Browser at startup.
Handling of one of the parameters has changed slightly in S60 3rd Edition device:
4. Start/Continue the browser specifying a URL
=> Parameter = “4”+” <Space>“+”<Url>”
If the browser is already running in the background, using this parameter no longer opens the specified URL in the current session (window). Instead, the URL is opened into a new window, provided that the maximum number of active browser windows has not been reached. The maximum number of active browser windows depends on the device and is usually five or six.
Solution
Currently there is no solution for opening a URL in the current session of a Web Browser in standalone mode. The Browser Control API provides more control over displaying Web content in a client-owned browser session.
