Capabilities (Symbian Signed)/SwEvent Capability
Article Metadata
The SwEvent capability restricts access to APIs that simulate user input events (e.g. key presses, touch screen, send messages to other applications)
This capability can be used with developer certificates and Symbian Signed tested applications, and by using open signed online for testing.
Why?
By simulating user input, a program can do anything that is possible through the user interface of the phone. This kind of program has been used by hackers in the PC world.
What?
The SimulateKeyEvent and SimulatePointerEvent APIs in the window server are the main APIs for which this capability is needed
Where?
These APIs are usually used for auto testing of applications. Remote control applications may also need these APIs.
