Blegs38552 - Screen Capture for Windows 7.5

Is there any good reason why this capability cannot be made available for non-unlocked phones (i.e., for all Windows 7.5 phones)?

Many users would like this capability, and apparently, it does work in the Win 7x operating systems.

Maybe Nokia can develop and release the application to the Windows Phone store?

Probably right, but where is the business case for developing any of the free apps? If you are talking about ad support, I'm sure that they could use the same business model as they use for their other free apps.

hi Blegs38552 Nokia is not developing apps to earn money per download but Nokia is trying to create app which helps users a lot for example cinemagraph in Windows Phone 8 and other apps from Nokia. Also Creating a screenshot app is not too much useful for Nokia in case of business for Windows Phone 7 device. Though all windows Phone 8 devices has this feature in built.

I am not sure but I think new update Windows Phone 7.8 should have this screenshot feature inbuilt like WP8.

Elmcl - deployment xap

Hey everyone I've downloaded the xap file and trying to deploy / install it on my device (Windows Phone 7.1 lumia 710 developer unlocked)

I try to use Application deployment tool (I have windows 8 pro with Visual Studio Express 2012)

1. I don't know if I need to start a new project with the file downloaded from here and if I do than how? 2. I tried to download from the internet from the device and didn't work out.

if there's any suggestions i'll like to know

Tripaabh - Foolishness to not to provide Screen Capture for Windows Phone 7

It's good to know that the Windows Phone 8 devices have an inbuilt feature for the screenshot, however this looks utter foolishness to not to give the same to Windows Phone 7 users. We obviously have paid for our mobiles and have the rights to have such facility.

I tried registering as a developer to get the Screen Capture app, however at the end it asked for some fees to register as one. I'm obviously not a Developer but I require the feature and I don't want to pay for it more when I know that I may brick my phone itself in the process. I don't know where to post this comment but it frustrates me like nothing else.

Introduction

Windows Phone 8

With Windows Phone 8 devices you can take screenshots by simply pressing the power and the Windows button simultaneously. This works whether your phone is unlocked or not. Screenshot will be saved automatically and can found in Picture hub - Screenshot Picture Album.

Windows Phone 7.5

Windows Phone 7.5 doesn't have inbuilt support for screen capture. However if you have a phone that is (a) developer unlocked and (b) interop-unlocked there’s an app you can use for taking screen shots on your device. The app is called Screen Capturer - the rest of the article explains how to use this tool.

How to unlock Windows Phone

To unlock WP device for development, please refer the steps written on MSDN link below. How to: Register Your Phone for Development

How to install on unlocked device

You can install the app only if your Windows Phone is unlocked (a developer device). You can download Screen Capture app from: ScreenCapturer.xap

Step

1. Click "Start Capture Task" to start capturing (A timer will start, and during this period, application will listen to Camera button event)
2. You may need to wait one or several seconds, a message prompt would convey - to start capturing.
3. Navigate to any application, and touch Camera button to capture the screen
4. A message prompt would confirm if capturing was successful, you can capture 20 images at a time (yes, you can ask for more if you want)
5. When the Capture Task ends, a Toast will show up to let you save the captured image, tap the Toast to return to application
6. The thumbnail will list and the captured images will stored in Pictures Hub
7. Tap the thumbnail will delete the temporary image file in the application folder

Settings Help

• Prevent Capture Task auto run: Capture Task uses BackgroundAgent to run and wait for Camera button event, BackgroundAgent may auto run in some case, enable this option to stop auto capture.
• The Capture Task duration: How long will the Capture Task run before it stop to accept Camera button event.

Notice

• Game and movie is not supported in this version.
• The Capture Task only save temporary file, you need go back to application to trigger saving file to Pictures Hub.
