Description
Nokia Browser 7.3 no longer supports passing usernames and passwords in HTTP or HTTPS URLs.
In previous Nokia Browser versions, the following URL syntax could be used (but was not recommended) to log in to a web resource that had basic authentication enabled. From Browser 7.3 onwards, automatic URL authentication has been disabled:
- https://user:password@example.com/login.html

Aate - A way to get around
Hello (and sorry for my bad english writing). I don't understand why this STANDARD form of URL is no longer supported. It's a huge problem for my business and me because some of our business applications involving many machines are based on this principle. Please, is there any way to activate this feature in the new version or workaround (without using any other browser) ? Authentication stored in the bookmarks do not work either! I am generally pleased with the work of Nokia teams but I do not understand this choice.
Hoping my message calls out someone... have a nice day.aate 11:29, 26 October 2011 (EEST)
Hamishwillee - Aate - I suspect not
Hi Aate,
I believe this sort of URL provides very poor security so you're now forced to use form based authentication.
You might want to send a private message to Forum Nokia KB user ID (see Article MetaData on top right above) or even better, raise in the discussion boards http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Discussion/ . This will get your more eyes on your problem!
