When to use the HERE Maps API

The HERE Maps API is a Javascript based mapping API. Using the API involves downloading a Javascript library prior to rendering a map. Map tiles are requested over http but are typically cached and reused by the browser.

The API can be successfully used on PCs, tablets and high-end mobile devices but API is not the correct choice in restricted memory mobile environments such as Java ME. Nokia also offers other alternative native mobile APIs described in the Category:HERE Maps which are better suited for these use cases.
