Description

Adding an application to the start-up list fails when it is installed silently from QtCreator to a Symbian^3 device using the Run on Symbian device feature. On Symbian, applications can be launched automatically at device start-up with the Startup List Management API.

This problem occurs when the Silent Installation option is enabled in QtCreator project settings. Silent installation suppresses all dialogs displayed to the user, and is enabled by default.

Solution

When testing the auto-start feature, uncheck Silent Installation in QtCreator project/Run settings, or install the SIS file manually. Note that the application must be signed against a trusted certificate (such as a DevCert) in order to be successfully added to the start-up list.
