Overview

Simultaneous playback defined by the JSR-135 Mobile Media API is supported in the Nokia Java™ SDK, but does not work in Nokia devices, i.e., two sounds cannot be played simultaneously.

Symptoms

MIDlets playing more than one sound simultaneously work in the S60 emulators but not the devices.

Description

MIDlets playing more than one sound simultaneously work in the S60 emulators but not the devices. Simultaneous playback is an optional feature in the JSR-135 specification. This was implemented in the Nokia Java™ technology SDK but not in Nokia Java technology-enabled devices due to memory limitation.
