Adobe Flash, formerly known as Macromedia Flash, also known as Shockwave Flash or simply: Flash. It was introduced in 1996 and has it is the most common way for adding animation and interactivity to web pages. Also several applications and devices are able to show Flash content. The Flash applications, usually referred to as "movies" carry the .swf extension in the PC world. The MIME-type of Flash is application/x-shockwave-flash.
