First, think big.
What can you build that will really make a difference? Consider the fact that mobile devices account for a small portion of global energy consumption, but the right service in the hands of billions of mobile device users can make a big difference in the amount of energy they consume in other areas of their lives.
As an example, consider the We:offset application. This S60 application provides consumers an easy way to calculate the carbon footprint of their travel, and provides an easy mechanism for them to purchase carbon offsets.
Check out the We:offset video here.
Next, think impact
What can you do in your application or service to make sure it has the greatest possible impact? For example, the We:offset application includes a "share with a friend" feature to encourage consumers to share the application with their friends.
Check out the source code for the Share with a Friend feature here.
And only then think technology
Join the discussion with Antti Rauhala, the developer of the we:offset application.
