Developed using Qt, this simple yet engaging application provides an ideal companion to The Guardian's desktop offering. Users can search for and browse articles, personalise their view by adjusting the font size, tag favourite articles, or share them with friends on social networks

Visuals

  • The application's graphics, visual style, and colour choices are high contrast, and well aligned with The Guardian brand.
  • Content and controls are large, easy to manipulate, and well optimised for touch interactions.
  • Sections are colour coded to aid recognition.

Interaction

  • Primary navigation consists of a menu located at the bottom of each view.
  • Content is displayed using a vertical list, which can be filtered using tabs at the top of the view.
  • A persistent back button is provided at the top of each sub view.
  • Related topics are displayed at the bottom of most articles.

Overall

  • Controls are included with each article; enabling users to adjust the font size, favourite the article, or share the content on social networks.
  • Users can customise topics displayed on the home screen and control the number of articles pre-loaded in each section.
  • Prompts are also provided to permanently disable certain types of repetitive notifications.
