The Map Image API is a simple, intuitive and fast RESTful service that brings Nokia Maps to any Web-enabled device. The same short URL offers access from any platform using the standard HTTP protocol and provides automatic resolution detection for mobile devices. The API allows you to display pre-rendered map data for all regions of the world, show specific geographical positions, points of interest, routes, turning points and junction views. You can additionally enhance the map with information such as live traffic. Query parameters define specific request details, for example position, zoom level and map type. The URL along with the query parameters can be shared via SMS. It is also possible to embed the resulting map image URLs directly into your own applications.

To see an example of this feature, go to maps.nokia.com, click on "Directions", define a route, then, click on "Print". |
