NFC is opening up new possibilities for mobile apps. Using this short-range radio technology can greatly simplify how users obtain information from and interact with their environment. When a phone touches or is held near an NFC tag or another NFC-capable device, data can be exchanged. This data could be a link to the download of the menu from a favourite restaurant, the specifications for an electronic gizmo, or pairing information from a Bluetooth headset or another phone that can be used to exchange objects: the possibilities are endless.

Buddy provides developers with an easy-to-use cloud backend for Windows Phone apps, featuring APIs that deliver common app scenarios as a service. By writing apps against the Buddy web services (instead of building cloud components from scratch and maintaining a server infrastructure), developers can instantly add functionality such as global user accounts, photo albums, messaging, friends/groups functionality, push notifications, and more using Buddy's API library.
Buddy currently makes available 500,000 API calls a month for free, but with the Nokia Premium Developer Program, you will get an additional 500,000 free API calls a month.
