Nokia Ad Exchange - FAQ

What is Nokia Ad Exchange (NAX)?

Nokia Ad Exchange (NAX) is a mobile in-app advertising exchange. It brings together more than 120 ad networks worldwide.

What makes NAX different from other in-app advertising platforms?

The following features of NAX differentiate it from other in-app advertising platforms

Can anyone use NAX?

Yes. Any developer who wants to monetise free content or apps, or who wants to run campaigns to reach more users for their apps, can use NAX. Registration is open to all developers in all countries.

I do not live in the U.S.A. Will NAX still work for me?

Yes, NAX supports developers in most countries.

On which Nokia platforms can I use NAX?

You can use NAX on all Nokia platforms, including Windows Phone, Series 40 / JavaME, and Symbian in addition to other, non Nokia platforms such as iOS, Android and BlackBerry.

Can I use NAX for apps on other platforms, such as iOS, Android, and Blackberry?

Yes. NAX is a cross-platform solution which supports iOS, Android, and BlackBerry.

What is the difference between an ad network and an ad exchange such as NAX? And why should I use an ad exchange rather than an ad network?

With NAX, ad requests coming from your app are offered to multiple ad networks. Only the best performing and most relevant ads are forwarded to your app. This generates much better performance than you would get from a single network. Also, as a developer, using an ad exchange means you do not have to deal with multiple separate networks in order to access their campaign inventory.

How many ad networks are covered by NAX?

More than 120 ad networks are working with NAX, and more will be added in the future. As a developer, you can filter the content and exclude certain networks from serving ads on your apps.

What are the ad networks that I get access to using NAX?

NAX works with more than 120 ad networks including: Mojiva, JumpTap, YOC, TapJoy, Inmobi, and premium ad agencies.

How many countries will NAX deliver ads in?

NAX delivers ads in more than 200 countries.

What types of ad units can my app run through those ad networks?

ads. In addition, banners, full-screen ads, and text ads are supported by NAX.
The types of ad units that are displayed in your app will depend primarily on the platform you are developing for. To learn more about ad units, check out this Ad Placement Strategy document.

What kind of user experience will NAX deliver to my app users?

NAX serves up mobile ads in a smarter, more contextual way than other ad services. When setting up in-app advertising, you will be asked to offer information regarding your app. NAX will use that information, along with real-time optimization, to serve the most relevant ads for each of your apps. In addition, you will be able to control the experience, and placement of the ads.

Will the ads served on my content be relevant to my app?

Yes, when you create your API key, we will ask you to offer information regarding your app, such as a description, target age group and location support. We will use that information, along with real-time optimization, to serve the most relevant ads to your app.

My app is meant for children. Will the ads delivered by NAX be child-friendly?

Yes, ads will be selected based on the profile you specify when creating your app API key. Furthermore, NAX will not allow adult campaigns.

What is the revenue share plan?

The revenue share between an app publisher and NAX is 70/30.

What kind of app campaigns can I run using NAX? You say that besides making money, developers can also run their own campaigns to promote their apps through the ad networks and drive more traffic to their free, ad-funded apps.

With NAX, you can run two types of campaigns:

How can I optimize my campaigns?

You will obtain the best results from your campaigns by knowing your target user (age, app category, and location) and by creating an engaging message and creative content for your campaigns.

How can I track the performance of my campaigns?

NAX campaign management dashboard reports impressions, and click-through-rates (CTR) and total spend for each campaign overall.

Can I measure success of each app campaign? Which metrics are available to measure success?

Yes, you can measure the success of your app campaigns. NAX offers dashboard that display metrics such as impressions and click through rates.

I have developed apps across different platforms, including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Does NAX let me see my overall revenue in a single dashboard?

Yes. The NAX dashboard gives you an overview of all revenue streams generated by all your published apps. You can also drill down to a single app, gaining a better understanding of its dynamics and obtaining valuable insights into how you can improve its performance.

Will the dashboard display revenue in other currencies such as Euro?

No. Revenues are displayed in USD only. You can be paid in other currencies depending on the payment method you choose but there is a $25 USD charge.

Does NAX promise any specific eCPM (cost per thousand) or fill rates on campaigns?

While we work very hard to optimize your inventory, we cannot promise specific eCPM rates.

If my revenue for a period is below par, will NAX help me improve revenues?

We offer Ad Placement Strategy’ document, developer forums and blogs that provide additional resources to help you improve your click-through-rates and thereby improve your ad revenues.

How long will it take me to integrate NAX enablers into my application?
