Mobile Flash - Introduction

With the advent of Flash Lite 3.0 mobile phones now have access to desktop Flash content. This means that most Flash content for Flash Player 8 (or Flash Player 9 with ActionScript 2.0) works with Flash Lite 3.0 enabled devices.

Flash Lite 3.0 supports both Flash content in a web browser and stand-alone Flash. A stand-alone Flash Lite application is a Flash application that runs in the Flash Lite player on a mobile device. Flash Lite applications can gain access to more powerful mobile specific features, such as the vibrating alert and dialler. Additionally, you can through S60 platform services, you can access device specific features, such as GPS and contacts.

However, the size, performance, controls, and memory limitations of mobile devices mean that special consideration must be paid to Flash content to make it fully mobile compliant. With a few changes most Flash content works perfectly on a mobile device, running inside a mobile web browser or as a standalone application.
