WRT widgets – Introduction

Web Runtime (WRT) widgets have become an important part of the development on the S60 platform. After a brief introduction to the WRT widgets, this module contains a hands-on section where you learn how to create, test, and run a WRT widget. The result is AccuWidget, which allows the user to check the current weather conditions and the weather forecast for the current and the following day.

High-level concepts

WRT extends the web browser for S60 to enable the use of widgets. Widgets are small web applications, which perform a single task. Before their adoption on mobile devices they have been in use on conventional computers. However, WRT widgets are ideal for the small screens of mobile devices.
