This presentation gives an overview of the new features introduced in Java Runtime 2.1 for Symbian (JRT2.1). The main new features are graphics hardware acceleration support, improved security user experience, improved installation user experience, and improved MIDlet start-up experience. JRT2.1 is used in all Symbian^3 devices and it is also available as a downloadable update for S60 5th Edition devices. JRT2.1 implementation has been contributed to Symbian Foundation as Mobile Runtime for Java Applications with an EPL license.
